We recently received this letter from one of AbleGamer’s supporters. Dan Bertholomey sent in this letter, hoping the gaming takes notice of the accessibility options that Sony has implemented.
An open letter to the gaming industry and a big Thank You to Sony Playstation:
I’ve had a passion for all games since PONG. Life long gamer. It’s not just a hobby to me, its a lifestyle. So much so that in 2005, I appeared on “Madden Nation” ESPN competing on a reality competition show playing Madden NFL and I finished 6th in the US at the young age of 40! I’m 50 now and still gaming. In 2010, a hit and run driver that was never caught, cost me my right arm and hand so now I game 1 handed. It’s been extremely difficult to enjoy gaming like I did when I could use 2 hands.I want to sincerely thank Sony Playstation from the heart, for the new button re map feature in the accessibility category with your latest 2.50 console update. I’ve mainly been an Xbox guy but I’ll be playing a lot more Playstation now that I’ve discovered the accessibility features. I hope Microsoft institutes the same type of accessibility features as Playstation 4 does.Thank you for improving my quality of life more than you can imagine. I want you and the industry to know how much this improves the quality of life for gamers with disabilities and I hope that we won’t be forgotten so we can enjoy gaming and life as much as we can despite our physical limitations.Dan Bertholomey“Packwolf” on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
